Comment: Eagle Harbor Township. Established on May 11, 1847 with John H. Bawden as its first postmaster. It became a (Contract Rural Station of Mohawk) on August 1, 1959; (Contract Rural Branch of Mohawk) on February 10, 1966; (Contract Community Post Office of Mohawk on July 1, 1975. It discontinued operation on June 8, 1983 along with zip code 49951; with mail service to Mohawk, MI 49950. It is important to note, that the building pictured was established in 1859 and is the oldest store in the Copper Country. It still functioned as a post office when this photo was taken.
