Comment: The Georgetown Post Office building was erected in 1931 on the circle. Cornerstone was laid on June 4, 1932. Cost of building: $63,452. The old post office building in the photo was purchased in 1994 by the Sussex County Council as meeting chambers and councilmen offices. The new post office is located at 115 S. King St. IMPORTANT HISTORICAL FACTS: Georgetown's first storekeeper was Benton Harns in 1795, and his home became the post office in 1799.
