Comment: Originally established in SAINT CROIX COUNTY, WISCONSIN on April 7, 1846 with Henry Jackson as its first postmaster. Changed to RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA TERRITORY on October 27, 1849. Changed to MINNESOTA on May 11, 1858. IMPORTANT HISTORICAL FACTS: The Post Office and Federal Court House was constructed 1892-1902. It was desiginated a National Historic Monument and reopened to the public as a Landmark Center in 1978. It is also the home of the Minnesota Museum of American Art and the Ramsey County Historical Society. This building is located at 75 W. 5th St.
