Comments: Climax Township. Originally established as CLIMAX PRAIRIE on January 15, 1836 with Daniel B. Eldred as its first postmaster. Name changed to CLIMAX on April 9, 1874. IMPORTANT HISTORICAL FACTS: Climax was the first post office in MI to establish R.F.D. mail service on November 1, 1896. The first post office in Climax photo was located in Sheldon's Seed Store. L. Comments: The Climax Post Office is the original and famous R.F.D. Post Office. It was constructed by a notable stone mason using one stone from each local farm in the area. The postmaster collected these stones from the farms during his routes for construction of this post office.
