Comments: Established on September 8, 1800 with Joseph Sears as its first postmaster. Discontinued operation on June 30, 1880 and reestablished on July 1, 1880 with Charles E. Gibbs as postmaster. This post office was first referred to as Bridgetown, then Bridgeton during the early 1800s.
