Comment: Photo by "ACME". Covington Township. First established on October 17, 1895 with John Lyons as its first postmaster. He was succeeded by Richard J. Howes on October 23, 1901. Covington, MI was named after Covington, KY where John Lyons originated from. The Covington, MI Post Office is still in operation today using zip code 49919. The photo is titled, ANY MAIL FOR ME? This young buck seems to sense something wrong with the 1939 hunting season, which has been hampered with high temperatures and very little snow, making woods noisy and tracking difficult. At any rate, he feels secure in approaching the post office at Covington, Baraga County, MI.
